Do you need to apostille your FBI background check for Italy?
Are you planning to continue your education in Italy or teach English as a second language? Are you Italian-American and would like to obtain dual citizenship through an immediate family member who was born in Italy?
If you are planning to continue your studies in Italy or teach English as a second language, the most common documents you will need to apostille are your educational degree and your FBI background check. If you are planning to obtain dual citizenship, you will need to apostille documents that prove that an immediate family member was born in Italy and immigrated to America. For example, your Grandfather who was born in Italy and immigrated to the United States in the early 1900’s. He became a U.S. Citizen and later married your Grandmother.
We recommend that you contact the local Italian Consulate so they can provide you a list of what documents are required. The Italian Consulates are by appointment so before you schedule an appointment be sure to allow enough time for you to obtain your documents and also apostille them. The Government of Italy has one Embassy located in Washington DC and nine Consulate offices. The Consulate are located in the following U.S states:

In all circumstances, you will need to obtain an apostille on your FBI background check for Italy. An FBI background check must be issued within the past 90 days and it also must receive an apostille through the US Department of State in Washington, D.C.

If you receive your FBI background check in a digital format (PDF copy), go ahead and e-mail it to us with the completed order form and payment (see below). If you receive your FBI background by regular mail (Hard copy), go ahead and mail it to our Washington DC office with our order forms (see below). We can process a digital PDF copy or a hard copy. It’s your choice.

An FBI background check can only be processed through the U.S. Department of State in Washington, D.C. Because this document is a U.S. Federal document, it cannot be processed through any Secretary of State office nor can it be notarized.
