Do you need to apostille your W2?
Form W-2 is an Internal Revenue Service tax form used in the United States to report wages paid to employees and the taxes withheld from them. Employers must complete a Form W-2 for each employee to whom they pay a salary, wage, or other compensation as part of the employment relationship.
In order to apostille your W2 form, you must have the document signed and notarized. You can meet with a local notary public and have your signature signed and notarized or you can ask your accountant to have his/her signature signed and notarized. Please double check with the country requesting the apostille on whose signature they prefer.
If you have more than one W2, each W2 form must be signed and notarized separately. For example, if you received two W2 forms (different employers), you will need to have each one notarized separately.
In additional to a W2 form, we can also apostille documents issued by the International Revenue Services (IRS) including form 6166 and Federal Tax returns. We can also apostille your tax returns.
Obtaining an apostille can be complicated. Don’t leave this process to untrained employees or non-professionals who do not fully understand the apostille process and the unique requirements of certain countries. Your paperwork could be rejected costing you time and money. Don’t let this happen to you!
