A birth certificate from Virginia only requires the state apostille. You will need to mail in the original County Clerk issued certificate or a new certified copy with our Virginia Apostille Order Forms. Beware of websites that ask you to upload your documents. Birth certificates from Virginia are not notarized. Also, a birth certificate from Virginia must be issued within the past 12 months. If the one you have is older, contact the County Clerk for instructions on how to obtain a new certified copy. Note: A birth certificate from Virginia can only obtain the apostille through the Virginia state.
